Cheers Colb - I was thinking that might be the problem now. I have a Foxwell 710 (which I'm not impressed with) but it seems to have a CAS reset and a FRM reset option. Bit nervous about using this device to do this sort of reset...

So I checked the list of fuses relating to the door lock and the antenna - all good. I also tried the fob reset procedures, which didn't fix the problem. Also tried removing and reinstalling the battery....

I don't know - I was only on there for 45 minutes before I realised it wasn't Z4 related info... :whistle::whistle::whistle:

It's a factory standard car - not sure what a smart top module is (unless it's something that lets the key fob open the roof, in which case "No")

Hi all - so I left the Z4 sleeping for several months while I sourced a "hood" i.e. bonnet (not easy to find in the UK). The car was left unlocked in a garage, sometimes with a battery connected, sometimes without. Now the car allows me to start the engine but both key fobs no longer work...

I just bought a Foxwell NT710 and it is supposed to do some bi-directional things like emergency trunk release, and also do key addition. It does not. In fact each of the 5 things I tried to use it for don't work. The DTC code reader just bangs you straight into google, so when I got a "27DD"...

Hi Robbi - hope you are well. Yes, apologies, I went off on another track after inspecting the pump and finding it was OK. So Carly was leading me on a "wild goose chase" and I later checked out the CTM. I nervously took it apart and found some corrosion on a part of the circuit board, so...

That's really helpful - thanks for taking the time to put all that down. It looks like the problem I have is with step 4. Open "Options". I cannot see any Options option ( :whistle: ) on screen when I go into Bluetooth (but I do see the previous guys phone as one of the known devices).

Hi all - I'm trying to get rid of all previous owners information on the car's hard drive - I've been through all the menus I think. The main screens shows something called "Office" which has the last owners details, and I want to remove it all. Does anyone know how to do this please?

Maybe they haven't got up to speed on the E89 codes - its only been 12 years :bashhead:

I can read the codes but they don't pinpoint the problem - e.g. Carly was telling me "code nnnn - could be sensor 3, valve1, valve 4" There is also minimal explanation of what the code means - it basically refers you to a google search. No good enough for a BMW specific tool.

Yep I have the full version - don't recommend it.
