    Hardtop and fitting kit value?

Somebody came to look at the Z3 l am selling and they didn’t want the hard top. What’s a pristine Topaz Blue hardtop with fitting kit worth to sell? So l can give him an idea as to what he would get for it.

    Play in drive train?

On my 3.0 there seems to be a fair bit of backlash in the transmission. The clutch is new and the garage said the flywheel was fine (it has only done 56,000 miles) The backlash can generally be felt while changing the lower gears, as in 1-2 and 2-3. I had the clutch replaced as it was dragging...

Air con, do l need to run it regularly?

My Z3 is not in use over the Winter, but l read that air con needs to be used regularly or the seals dry out and the gas leaks out. How often do l need to run it? The car is on SORN so l can’t actually drive it anywhere, and running the engine on the drive is not the best thing either. New cars...

Anybody been to Spain on a driving holiday

We are getting the ferry to Santander and doing a road trip around the mountains in Northern Spain. Some of the hotels only have parking on the street in the village, but l am assured that it's fine. It's a first for us. We usually fly to Greece. The dilemma is, which vehicle to go in....Z3 3.0...

Literally no idea... Off topic taken from thread

When l had my Ferrari l once got lost after dropping my missus at the RNCM in Manchester and ended up in Moss Side. I was pretty much ignored. Afterwards l spoke to my friend who is a rozzer and he said "you were fine they will have thought you were a drug dealer"

    Play in driveline

There's a bit of play in the drive line of my Z3 3.0. You only really notice it when changing from first to second gear, when in traffic, there seems to be some slack being taken up. Where is this play likely to be. And can it be removed or is it normal?

    A forum question

Can somebody tell me where the "private message" section is on this forum? As people have said they sent me messages, but l have never seen them. l looked on my "profile" and l have "profile post" but that's empty. l figured out how to send a private message. But the one l sent appears to have...

A funny moment in the Z3

I was pulling out of a side road and a Fiat 500 Abarth went past. I pulled out behind him, and as we entered a deristricted road, he floored it. Now l am not into this kind of thing normally (honest) but l soon caught up with the guy, and absolutely wiped the floor with him. Never had the Z3...

    Gear change on 3.0 Sport

Sometimes the gear change is notchy, and other times it is OK. It does not crunch, but kind of crashes into the next gear (mainly from first to second gear) maybe as if you did not press the clutch down enough? Other times it is fine. I have read that these gearboxes are notchy. But why is it...

    Z3 air conditioning

Is the system generally reliable on the Z3? I was surprised to find that it is still working on my 12 year old Z3 3.0, but my last car was a Lotus Elise, where you were lucky if it worked when the car was new.

    Is the Z3 a "classic car" ?

I took my 2002 Z3 to a classic car show last week. Some friendly banter took place as to whether or not it should be on display in the car show, or parked in the car park. However it ended up in the show, and attracted a lot of interest. I think people look on it as a car they could own...

    CDV, in or out?

I removed the clutch delay valve from my Z3 3.0 It did stop the momentary clutch slip on fast gear changes. But it also made it very difficult to get a smooth gear change from first to second under "normal" driving, without shunting. So l refitted the CDV and it was smooth again. Swings and...

    New member

Hi everybody I just found this forum! I owned a silver Z3 2.8 back in 2008. I now have a Topaz Blue 3.0 Sport which l bought in May. I've always been into classic/older cars, l think the Z3 is a great "modern classic" it's cheap to buy, well made, reliable, easy to work on, and looks good.
