Well my 2.8 single vanos 1997 engine blew a head gasket. Replaced that timed it properly and started it and catastrophe. The timing went out so the tensioner must have failed but there was oil starvation in the head that wrecked the cams and journels. There was no oil warning light so somehow channel in the head or block have got blocked.
Anyway engine coming out. Its toast probably so given these m52 sem like ticking time bombs (96k miles emgine and tjis is the second on thats let go on me soon after buying the car) im now thinking an early non vanos m50b25 and swap the engine loom and rebuild it with wither bottom end from my 2.8 or 3.0l bottom end.
While the engine will fit nicely are there any wiring issue I might face. My car is obd1 I think as there no obd2 port in the car. Its a 1997 z3.
I just want a simple car with a simple engine with an iron block.
