Hi, after too many years driving family cars, I've jumped at the chance of a 1998 Z3 1.9 roadster. It's been off the road for a while, but my cousin has been bringing it back to life and it's just passed its MOT. He's running it for June to check it all over and see what else needs doing, then it's moving into my newly cleared out garage!
There are quite a few things to settle, but I'm pleased to be rescuing what would otherwise have been scrapped.
Cheers
Paul

Hi and a big :welcome: from Southport. Don't forget to get the water pump checked/replaced. They fail in an instant as the plastic impeller cracks on the shaft and is no longer driven, the engine then overheats very quickly.

Thanks again all.
Here are some pics of the car recently.
Here it is at the Cromarty ferry terminal, for the two-car (unless it's a big car, when it's only one) ferry across the Firth to Nigg.

The car will have it's original Z Line wheels refitted, as these 'style 55' (?) wheels will be going back to my cousin's other Z3, which he is also bringing back to life, but has more work to be done.

I haven't investigated whether the circles in the ends of the trim behind the seats come out for fitting a wind deflector, or if they have to be cut out.

Some signs of a shunt at some time in about 2007.

Not sure if the door card trim is original or if it was tanin red like the seats, which are original.

And after many runs to the recycling centre, and the purchase of lots of hooks and brackets for hanging bikes etc, the garage is now ready to receive the car!

So, theres lots of work to do, but it seems to be going ok so far.
Cheers

Hi Paul you may well find it's the seats that are not original.
Easily checked out follow this link put in the last 7 off the chassis number and all the cars original spec will show you will be able to see what seats it came with .

I know what I would be doing and that is get 2 leather insert door cards then dye them and gearshift / hand brake lever gaitors all in a purple to match the seats .:):).

Yes, I found that link elsewhere on the forum a d checked. It says LEDER OREGON TANINROT, so I guess the seats are original. It also says 'Chromeline interieur'. And VERSAND SHUTZPAKET, whatever that is? Shipping protection package?
Cheers
