hi all good evening,
I’ve just purchased my z already impressed with it stock, already feeling places it could do with tweaking though, what recommendations do you all have for spacing the wheels they are stock 16”s on the car just need to fill those arches, what mm front and rears ? What modifications to limprove throttle response I believe the engine is the twin vanos 2.8, also feels like the suspension needs a little firming on the rear. Thank you

Hi Adam and welcome, .......... to the money pit:thumbsup:. You've chosen a great car to have fun with but beware it can become an obsession (not that that is a bad thing). Have a look through the progress thread sections for @Antm72 , @5harp3y , @Andy McDonnell plus many others and see what these guys have done.

Tony.

Hi from Mansfield. I have 18"s on mine with 20mm spacers but to be honest i'd go 17"s with the spacers just for a bit more comfort.

Hi thanks, just for the rest of the summer and autumn I’m lightly modifying B, so the 16’s will stay for now maybe a colour change and put some 20mm spacers on thanks for the tip, I will be posting my progress with all aspects of the car, the winter months might see a colour change to a modern bmw solid light blue as found on the M4’s with gloss black alloys not sure yet if the colour will suit the car, I’m torn between keeping her semi original or going the full hog with a respray. Ps I’m a painter by trade

I am also a body tech and painter, great to have another on here, you are in a great position to let your imagination run wild, go for it but be creative, just don't create a monster, oh and beware of messing with the Z3 suspension, its great as it is, change it at your peril, ;)

I had 20mm spacers on the rear of my Z3 Adam and 14mm on the fronts. This was running a staggered set up on 16" wheels.

A reasonably cheap upgrade is the inlet manifold swap from the 3.0 engines, Ant did this and when I drove his car it was transformed with the power right through the rev range.

Hi and welcome from Surrey, I find that 20mm spacers fill the rear out nicely. The rear end probably just needs new shocks if they have never been changed. :welcome:

I’m gonna make sure they’re staggered thanks, I thought being a double vanos engine it couldn’t be done, does the 3.0 inlet manifold change require a different throttle body and remap too Tony ?
