Two days ago my Toshiba tv in the conservatory started playing up.
While watching it, for no reason the menu for the signal input would appear and it would start scrolling though them and most times stopped on the AV1 input.
I did check the remote by removing the batteries, but made no difference so the problem must be the tele.
Using the remote you could return it to the TV but it would keep going back to the signal input menu

Anyway, I looked on line and it turns out that this problem is quite common., not just on Toshiba, but Samsung, Panasonic, plus others.
Fortunately its a very simple fix.
Take the back off and disconnect the lead that connects the onboard buttons pcb.

Make sure that when you lay the tv down its on something soft to protect the screen.
I used the cats bed...which she was only too please to donate
Loads of screws so did the Ed China cardboard method

The connector just pulled off and I wound it round one of the cable clips to keep it out of the way

This just disconnects the button panel and just means that all the functions are now only on the remote control.
Everything works and the problem has gone away.

I could have taken the pcb off the button assembly to get a part number, and tried to get a replacement, but not really worth it as they will probably cost a fortune and thats if they are actually available.
