Takes it very close to 3.0 performance which I suspect is why BMW did not fit the bigger manifold as standard. They would have had a hard time justifying the premium for the 3.0 over the 2.8.
To let everyone know:
The manifold swap (M52TUB28 to M54TU30), Exhaust and ECU upgrades are all still running very nicely with zero issues, goes like a rocket and about 30-32 mpg average.
I like mine shiny. After all it is a fake.
The Patina will build ad the car ages anyway, the chrome is beginning to put slightly anyway.
Allis fair in love and cars!
A few recent pics:
I cannot lock the car with the key as the lock barrel is deleted when installing the mini handles, central-locking only. I think the key can lock the car without setting the alarm but I need to look up how?
Thanks for the input on the alarm.

Overheating
Due to overheating issues (header tank exploded during MOT - EEK!), caused by not being able to get the electric fans to switch correctly. I have re-fitted the viscous fan set-up. Whilst I was in there changing the header tank and fan, I tidied up...
Mine is as solid as a rock on the road, no rattles or squeaks. Having said that, I am fanatical about things fitting properly and have a tendency to over-engineer. Rattles and weird noises are a big no-no for me (think people clicking pens - I want to break their fingers).
Go for the build.
Welcome to the Forum, I cannot remember what the plug is for but you may like my 250 builds? Do you mind me asking what you paid for yours (DM if private). I am always wondering what mine may fetch?
No idea if it is absolutely necessary to tune the ECU as I did mine all at one time. That said, I would suggest that additional performance and fuel efficiency will result, not to mention your car will not run like a bag of spanners!
The ECU tunes for the free-flow exhaust, MB30 manifold (...
