I’ll ask. I wasn’t driving. My Z has been off road for ages awaiting major works to the body and went into the workshop recently. It was off to the MOT centre when this happened. I’ll ask and post the response.

I’d put money on the thermostat being jammed, that’s what usually blows a radiator.
What was the temp gauge reading?
OK, more information. The temperature gauge was normal. Any thoughts on what has made the radiator hose blow off, taking the black plastic moulding of the radiator with it, rendering the radiator needing to be replaced?

It should only blow if over pressured, or a weak spot. Any work being done in the engine bay? Maybe someone’s been leaning on it.
I would still check the thermostat if it were me, easy job when the rad is out.
Actually, what does the hose look like? Is the clamp over tightened, biting right into the hose? That cracks plastic tank fittings.

Leaning in is a possibility as there’s a lot of work been done. New thermostat and new hoses are being ordered.
Car has had a service, too.
I’ll mention about the clamps on the hoses not being over tightened.
Honestly, after all the work that’s been done to my Z, the radiator blowing really is unbelievable.

Daft question: would someone leaning on the radiator potentially damage it? If so, how?
