Hi @Anakin and welcome from me near Lincoln, a real nice pair of cars you have. As for the TT's colour it's not a problem, even being a different make either ........................... @Toby.;)

That engine has to be one of the best on sale today. I regularly hear one in an RS3 DSG. It sounds like you can open some flaps as on cold start it's very loud but good noise. The way it gets through the gears is astonishing, serioulsy rapid.
Fantastic noise on and of the throttle. Really sounds like a group B rally stage going on.
A 5cyk has a special appeal, much rawer than a 6 but takes on quite a howl at revs.

I think 4wd is a must with the way it takes off, I imagine getting all 4 lit up in a wet day is easy enough. Must be plenty of torque.

A straight 5 cyl motor does sound good. Even in my Touareg it was good when you gave it the beans. There are quite a few 5 pots around, tested one this pm a 5 pot diesel in an Alfa.:( Gorgeous looking car sounding like the devil.

I have moded my sports exhaust, flapper mod (its always in sports mode) and removed the secondary cats. I love the Engine its why I bought the car. 4k+ revs at WOT is heaven :D needs to be under load though, sounds a bit like a tractor when you rev it on the spot :p

Its all been about the S54 today though, makes a different but almost as nice noise. Might eventually get some exhaust/intake mods to increase the volume on that a little.

That DSG gearbox is great had one in my Touran a few years ago. Shirl's Eos has the same 2.0 D and DSG fun car.

I've been in a tunnel with an M3 CSL (a proper one with the carbon air intake).
It's a scary noise. Scary price for the carbon intake too but it's worth it. Videos just can't capture it.
Someone somewhere must have made some replicas by now, might be tighter under the Z4 bonnet though.

I went CSL shopping a couple of years ago, decided to keep the TTRS in the end. The CSL would not have made a better daily than the TT, looking at the price now I kinda wish I had though :p

My s***'s custom!
In all honesty @Anakin, my shortlist when buying my car was Z4, Audi TT, Honda S2000 and Porsche boxter.

I ruled the boxter out early as I just didn't feel it. The S2000 was next to fall as although it was good, it didn't feel special enough and the VTEC engine seemed to be working really hard all the time to get it to perform.

That left the Z4 and the TT and I found the Z4 first. I would be in a TT if one had come along before the Z. I'm happy with how things turned out.
