Assume then, that you'll use the altered door shape as your datum and then make alterations to the rear tub and lower front wing to match. Loads of work but if it gives you the look that you want...it's well worth doing
Replying to an old question - sorry I didn't answer at the time but, TBH, I just didn't know what or whether I'd actually do it.
Here's a reminder - I was talking about how I wasn't keen on the almost-vertical 'slab sided' look of the Tribute body panels. Look at the nice curve of the front where it curls under the bumper. - Rear is the same - but the middle kinda grinds my gears and I knew I'd never be happy until I at least tried to do something about that.
So today I had the panel off to fiddle with positioning of handle and, while it was on the bench, decided to chop the bottom off the door panel and reshape it.
Tucked in the bottom of the door by around 35mm.
So yes, the door will now be a datum for the same treatment to the wings. Need to think of the best way to do the sills

Lots of work there, and front mud flaps definitely required to stop stones damaging the paintwork along the sides. Look forward to watching your progress

The new door bottom must be very close to the original door sill.
Stone damage - Not if I do it like this at both wheel arches/ ie keep the wheel arches where they are. Not planning on keeping it like this - I just did this to see what it'd look like after you mentioned stones.
That's red masking tape on the sill to highlight how far in the door skin has been pinched. Not planning on keeping that sill - like running boards - or? No. I don;t think so. But mud flaps? don't know about that.
I haven't touched the steel of the door. The grp panel is still around 15mm wider at the bottom than the original z3 door.

Now that the front and rear panels are chopped and the car back on its wheels it doesn't look like I'll need mud flaps.
Flat slab sided look - gone.
Now to decide whether to carry on with this side or do the other side

I remember over two years ago you were giving me a hard time for delaying getting the body on mine. Mine has been finished for ten months now!
Ha. I remember. But you needed a dig to get you moving. Yes. Play with for evermore sums it up. The whole idea of my car is to keep me busy in my retirement. If I had your car I'd have nothing to do and have to buy another kit - 300SL on an SLK maybe - if only I had the space.

. . . . and my car isn't like any other car on the planet. Your car might be one of the best in the bunch of other identical cars. Mine is in a bunch all on its own. Although, admittedly, it will never reach the standard of your build but it will always be truly unique.

The curved in side certainly looks better, nice tweak. 
Another thing that grinds my gears is that swage line. (Somebody Stop Me!. . .)

As well as the door cut-and-shut job, I took around 10mm of the swage line. Took the triangular 'peak' off the top to give it a flat top a bit like the S2 507
I know. Hardly see any difference but, to me, it's less 'in your face' as it was. Also might allow me to reduce the door gap because that sticky-out bit doesn't catch on the wing as much.

Part of the front inner wing has to be cut away for clearance whilst it opens but as the inner edge is black it doesn’t really show unless you look hard.
Panel gaps are about 4mm
After tucking the bottom half of the panels in by 20mm it exagerated the width at the swage line. So they had to be shaved down a bit. I do prefer the flat top look though.
You did well though getting the gap down to 4mm. Looks good
