Hi from Bradford, West Yorks.

Bought my ‘99 pre-facelift 2.8 six months ago, so may know a few of you from Z3 FB pages.

I tried to buy this car five years ago but was gazumped (first time that’s ever happened). When it appeared for sale again last year (albeit £3k more expensive), I bought it without thinking! No regrets, though.

It’s a wacky BMW Individual order, originally bought from Holland Park BMW in Kensington. It’s fully-specced and all-original right down to the cassette player (afaik). Original owner must have been rather brave or rather wealthy to tank its resale value on the order form with these colour and interior options. It has 66k miles, so only just broken in.

I do have one question for anyone who might know: the chrome pack is specified on the original order form, but I’ve been told that this included chrome EVERYTHING—and mine only has the chrome side gills and gear shifter. Has it been de-chromed? (Not that I’m complaining.)

No plans to mod, but having a navy blue roof installed by Jack Smith soon; current one is a little tired.

Previous reg plates were L600 ROW and T818 NLB, in case anyone knows the car.

Your car looks amazing @Klapaucius.

Just to add to the mystery of the chrome pack: my car has feature S345 "Chrome Line Inetrieur (sic)", which includes the gear nob, light switch, lock pin, and interior door handles. It doesn't have the exterior door handles, grill, windscreen surround or third brake light in chrome, but oddly enough, the side gills are chrome...

So, I suppose there must have been an interior and an exterior chrome pack, and whoever bought the car originally decided to add just the side gills from the "exterior" package. 🤷‍♂️

Love a well-specced inetrieur, haha.

In any case, mine seems to be the same as yours in the chrome stakes and I've seen one or two for sale with the same configuration.

Ah, that should have been "Interieur". I was fighting the auto correct and ended up making it even worse. :D
Oh! I saw that it said “(sic)” and assumed you meant it was spelt that way on the original order form. I wasn’t mocking your spelling haha. :D

Hi and welcome from me. The exterior door handle surrounds are reasonably priced complete with gaskets but the handle it’s self is part of the locking mechanism but you could cover that with one of the stick on ones if you wanted chrome door handles that is. The window surround can be retrofitted. Is a great colour though.

Nope—I’m very happy with the level of chrome as it stands (although the door handle gaskets do probably need replacing soon). Up until recently, my daily beater was an old X-Type so I’m all chromed-out.

Eh, I put the "sic" in there because they spelled the French word without the diacritic. I was being a pedant and it backfired...

Having said that, according to RealOEM, BMW called the exterior pack "Exterieur". Why all this French mixed in? A bunch of snobs. :p

Haha—I’m an English Teacher so I love it when a conversation descends into pedantry.

Nice car, enjoy! My car has 3 chrome pack options, but the side gills are not chrome.
