Planning a trip mid September to drive some of the Swiss Passes and enjoy the scenery. 13th i plan to cross Chunnel and stay local to Calais in Wissant.
14th, Day after to Besancon ideally off blue routes to arrive in Andermatt for 2 nights 15/16th, do the passes and head north for the 17th.
17th Andermatt Bern to Nancy for night, then 18th a rural drive to Calais for a late evening Chunnel.
Been a few times on the bike but I want this pace to be much relaxed and no screaming YAHOOO through my helmet kinda pace.

Anyone offer any advice as im always greatful for others opinions, me wifey and the Zed and not alot of luggage I hope !

That's a lot to cover in a short space of time. I haven't done Switzerland but you will require a Vignal?? I think it's called to drive there.
 
Yes seen that online. I need to fine tune the miles but then again, we're not to bothered about dropping off at places on route.
Its a new venture so can only see how it goes. Much simpler on the bike, can make progress much much more. Z on corner I'll be smooth, on the bike it's see how far a lean I can get a d boot it out onto the straight 😎😂
 
As Grumps says that's a lot of miles in a short time but you'll only need a vignette if you are going to use the Swiss motorways. We are driving into Switzerland on our Euro trip this year but will stay off the motorways. Depends how much of the country you are planning to see...
When you say 'do the passes' which ones are you thinking of? There are loads to choose from. The main ones we're doing this year are the Furka, Grimsel, Susten, Old and the New Gothard, Nufenen. We are staying in Switzerland for 4 nights this time. So 3 full days of Swiss Pass driving :thumbsup:

Most important advise in my opinion: stick to the speed limit, speeding fines are really drastic in Switzerland. I would buy a toll sticker ('Vignette') because the using the motorways because might save some time here and there.

I'll do a day trip to Switzerland end of July and on the way to the starting point as well as on the way back the motorway will save more than two hours in total.
 
Furka Grimsel Susten and we plan to stay in Andermatt. That's the only thing playing on my mind is the distance to Andermatt. Im doing it in 2 stages so probably 5 hrs driving in each day with breaks, from home a 3 day drive, 2 days in Andermatt, 3 day drive home.

Im still looking at a route but dont fancy motorway driving there and back

I think for the time and distances you're planning, you'll have to do quite a bit of motorway driving and pay the French Tolls as well.

Bear in mind if you stay off the toll roads on the N and D roads, they have a speed limit of 90kph or sometimes 80kph [55mph or 50mph] with lots of cameras too. That, plus all the towns and villages which are limited to 50kph [30mph] and the centres are now 30kph [18mph] it will take a lot longer.

But the planning is all part of the fun:whistle:;)
 
Just been playing around with AI and my pending trip south.
It advices this n that etc but also gave an insight into the cars Temperature Gauge which i find supper handy for a long trip.

Basically you can get a real time constant reading as you drive rather than watching the needle on the dash. Apparently if the needle suddenly spikes it's too late and the damage is done to the engine, this reading replaces the displayed cars mileage and trip counter.

Its 'reasonably ' accessible by taping the cluster miles reset button through options but youve got to be spot on with your timing, took me 5 goes. Eventually you get to option 7 and then the reading...
85 to 115 are normal readings so it says.

Being 25 years old im not sure whats ever been done with the cooling system and I want to be sure I can complete the 2500 ish trip error free 🙏🤞

Im definitely going to have it on at some point, sadly it's one of those features you need to re-enter every time you turn on n off the ignition...Grrrrrrr 🙄

We spent about a week in Switzerland last year (were away nearly 3 weeks). Can ping the routes for your intended areas on here or send you them privately. We went Harwich - Rotterdam. Didn't stay in Andermatt because it was very expensive, stayed in Soelden about 15 mls away. Didn't need a vignette as we stayed off motorways. Only had one or two tolls, mainly for passes. OH loves touring in the z4 but won't go back to Switzerland. We went mid July and it was only dry ONE day. We normally tour France/Spain/Italy/Portugal so she was fully expecting sun and lots of it 🙈🙈 We're heading off in 2 weeks for 20 days with some forum members. France and Northern Spain mostly. I'm under strict orders 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🤣🤣🤣
