I can't be trusted with a jack. At least this time I wasn't under it. I have a spare set of sills and a brand new set which will be going on soon, so it's not the end of the world. I was in a rush and don't normally jack up there and didn't check it was far enough under ans it slipped. I blame @gookah, he jacked his up there last week so I thought I'd try it. All to put some tyre shine on!

At least you have new ones to fit at some point.
Thank God you weren't underneath it, lesson learned eh.

As a bloke who polished an X-trail's tow ball with my front bumper I feel I can't comment Dave. Apart from saying "**it happens" mate.:(

Unfortunately I've been there before, got away with a broken collar bone and luckily I got my head out in time. Lesson learnt and never again will I go under without making sure everything is safe. Got to get the new ones sorted even quicker now, but have a spare second hand set in the shed which will see me through for a while.

I have made myself a bit of wood the same size as the jacking point and nailed a smaller bit on top that fits perfectly in the hole and that stops me making silly mistakes and stops the jack from damaging the plastic and from slipping :)

It was rusty on the front and bubbling a bit at the back which is why I bought a new pair a couple of months back. If you think you can get it out I'll post it onto you mate

I use Hocky pucks shaped to fit into the jacking points when using a trolly jack and my new scissor lift has rubber pads on the arms that position under the entire jacking points.
